Storytel Group has acquired the exclusive rights to continue the stories in the Swedish crime series about the character Silfverbielke by Dag Öhrlund and Dan Buthler. Now Storytel plans for new productions, which are to be released next year.
The two authors Dag Öhrlund and Dan Buthler have together written a long series of thrillers about the psychopath Christopher Silfverbielke and the police officer Jacob Colt. Their crime novels have been tremendously successful – and are among the most consumed Swedish audiobooks in Storytel’s history. They have already been translated into Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, German and Dutch.
With this acquisition, Storytel will be able to continue the series with other writers.
“This is an exciting day for all of the Silfverbielke fans out there. We are both very happy that our antihero now gets new life, and international exposure, that would not have been possible without Storytel,” says Dag Öhrlund and Dan Buthler in a comment on the acquisition.
Helena Gustafsson, Chief Content Strategy Officer at Storytel, is looking forward to the coming productions:
”Nordic Noir is one of the top genres in our service and the craving for this type of captivating escapism keeps growing, both in the Nordics and in the rest of the world. Storytel’s continuation of Öhrlund’s and Buthler’s thrillers will expand the popular universe around Silfverbielke and make it more vibrant than ever. I am really proud to announce this agreement,” says Helena Gustafsson.
The creation of Storytel’s new stories about Silfverbielke will begin shortly.
